Scope & responsibility triage
Answer eight short questions and get: whether you fall in the mandatory scope, a responsibility map, your next three actions, and the “do we need a QSeal now?” branch. A downloadable report is generated at the end.
This is a triage, not legal advice
It covers the typical battery scenarios; edge cases (exactly 2 kWh, remanufacturing, complex inventories, unclear roles) return “insufficient information” on purpose. Answers never leave your browser.
1What is the product
Pick the closest option.
2Battery category
Per Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 categories.
3Industrial battery capacity
The scope is “capacity greater than 2 kWh”. Exactly 2 kWh counts as “not greater” — pick the second option.
4Expected first placing on the EU market (or putting into service)
The obligation applies to batteries placed on the market from 18 Feb 2027; it is not retroactive.
5Trading roles (select all that apply)
Select what actually applies; if nothing fits, select the last option only.
6Is there a written agreement with the buyer on who creates, maintains and registers the passport?
7Current situation
8Intended registering entity and organisation-validation status
Organisation validation = the EU DPP registry’s identity check for economic operators.
What this tool will not tell you
- A final legal attribution of liability — contracts and authorities decide that;
- “Not in this passport’s scope” does not mean “no other obligations”;
- Whether an existing seal is valid, whether validation will pass, or that everyone should buy a QSeal;
- It does not replace the official User Guide — registration follows the current published flow.
